color: #003300;\">The Mountain is Fluid<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">I don\u2019t think that I could have painted this picture unless I was surrounded by quarries.\u00a0 Some of them are open cast areas which have never been restored.\u00a0 The idea that the mountain is not as solid and impenetrable as it might first appear becomes as accessible fact.\u00a0 To the owners of the quarry, the earth\u2019s resources are totally fluid \u2013 to be spooned out like honey for material gain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; the next, I was walking speedily down the old railway track towards the woodland.\u00a0 It was getting late and there was only just about enough light to pick my way through the woods.\u00a0 I felt quite shaken.\u00a0 I\u2019m not at all sure exactly what happened up there, so I decided to paint this picture.\u00a0 This is really an early <em>Portal Picture<\/em>, as I felt on my walk that I had entered another dimension.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #003300;\">Mermaids with Angels<\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_521\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Mermaids-with-Angels1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-521\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-521\" title=\"Mermaids with Angels\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Mermaids-with-Angels1-300x248.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Mermaids-with-Angels1-300x248.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Mermaids-with-Angels1-550x456.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Mermaids-with-Angels1.jpg 591w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-521\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mermaids with Angels<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Painted during the harsh winter of 2009, these figures look perfectly at home in a mild climate!\u00a0 As I was completely isolated, living down a long farm track \u2013 impassable in snow \u2013 perhaps this provided the external conditions necessary to produce paintings of this kind of intensity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\">The central figure (a mermaid) tells the viewer that this is really fiction \u2013 as she sits unconcerned and totally wrapped up in a book.\u00a0 The book, of course, gives the stories about the paintings of angels with mermaids and the tale of the rather disparaging figure on the left who, like the narrator, appears to be alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #003300;\">The Computer and the Red Field<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/The-Computer-and-the-Red-Field-copy.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-525\" title=\"The Computer and the Red Field copy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/The-Computer-and-the-Red-Field-copy-300x249.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/The-Computer-and-the-Red-Field-copy-300x249.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wendricharthouse.com\/wow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/The-Computer-and-the-Red-Field-copy.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Another picture painted whilst being snowed in at my remote cottage for more than tendays\u00a0 in the winter of 2010.\u00a0\u00a0 The computer itself is a kind of portal which has the means to transport the user through time and space into other dimensions and worlds.\u00a0 The \u2018buttons\u2019 that swirl around the monitor are sometimes with and sometimes without centres.\u00a0 The monitor itself displays a completely abstract image that resembles a <em>Red Field Painting<\/em>.\u00a0 On the bottom right is an arena-like space with a \u2018wall of death\u2019, yet there appears to be no audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; the labyrinth is lit up and enticing, yet it is a safe place to go.\u00a0 The plain is vast, but where does it lead to?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;
