The Golden Dawn Temple Tarot is a modern deck resulting from the collaborative working of a triad.  Occult author and Golden Dawn magician and researcher, Nick Farrell, worked alongside artist, adept and experienced meditator Harry Wendrich in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, before establishing the Magical Order of the Aurora Aurea.  His decades of experience and research of Golden Dawn ritual and symbolism illuminated the specifications laid out in Book “T” of the Golden Dawn manuscripts, upon which this deck is based.

Harry and Nicola Wendrich used meditations specifically developed to engage and communicate with the archetypal forms and forces within the Tree of Life.  They then pictorially translated and incorporated the material received to build upon the framework provided in the traditional documentation, which included revising and updating traditional colour assignments.

A unique feature of this deck is the vivid borders that connect each card with its placement on the Tree of Life glyph with a visionary updating of colour attributions to include the primary colour Magenta, which was unavailable as a non-fading pigment at the time the original Golden Dawn colour theory was recorded.  The inclusion of Magenta in this deck brings an exciting, evolutionary step to the colour magic of the Tarot, and also brings an increased accuracy and vibrancy to the flashing colours used in both borders and images.

Thus the archetypal frequencies had their own input regarding the composition of the images, both from that which has been recorded and referred to since the earliest days of the Golden Dawn, to that which is communicated within our modern Temples.  For the Golden Dawn is a living and vibrant tradition, developing and enlarging, as our consciousness expands, our visual capability increases, and modern technology enhances and facilitates the revelation of things perhaps known since the dawn of antiquity… perhaps even now just coming to light.

The Aquarian Edition

(Note: The Star Cover Version is a Limited Edition)

New Front Cover of the Golden Dawn Temple Tarot Deck

The Star Cover of the Golden Dawn Temple Tarot Deck

The Star cover version is a limited edition.  An alternative Empress cover version has an easier grip box lid and a matching booklet cover.  The cards in each version are identical.

In both versions of the Aquarian edition, we have striven to produce a deck of the highest quality and by the most ecological methods available.  The cards and booklet are beautifully packaged in a sturdy lidded presentation box, and all components of this deck have been printed using 100% solar energy, upon highest quality recycled card stock (FSC certified; 100% recyclable) with improved flexibilty (300gsm card with a white core), using food-grade inks, and a smooth natural gloss finish using no additional lamination.  A bespoke die was manufactured to create a large card format of a size comfortable for the smaller hand to handle.  Each of these changes and decisions were initiated by the Spiritual Overseer of our work and verified in meditation.

New reverse of Golden Dawn Temple Tarot Deck

Reverse of Golden Dawn Temple Tarot Deck, in both Star and Empress versions.

The reverse of the cards of the first edition, published in 2013, was originally coloured in a plain dark (racing) green.  This colour had been shown to Nicola in a dream and verified in Harry’s subsequent meditation to be the colour best suited to the reverse at that time.  The colour held an energy of a high intelligence while generating a grounding (earth) energy.  This revised ‘Aquarian Edition’ brings the introduction of The Star upon the cover, pulsing through a synthesis of the colours indigo, purple, violet and magenta, in acknowledgement of the Cosmic Gateway which opened at the auspicious conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius upon the Winter Solstice of 2020.  The reverse of the cards has also been redesigned to facilitate an enhanced attuning to this great energetic shift of our time.  The main images and borders of the cards remain unaltered, and the booklet is only slightly modified.

Specifications: The set comprises of a boxed 80-card deck with accompanying booklet (Note that this booklet is not the handbook which accompanies the Meditation Set).  Size of cards is 88mm x 134mm, with curved corners.

PLEASE NOTE: Printing without the use of  ecologically damaging laminations makes the box and booklet cover paper stock susceptible to minor surface marking throughout the cutting and assembly process.  We stand by our choice of environmental benefit over ‘polished perfection’ of the packaging.  The cards themselves are protected with a natural gloss lamination, and have been checked and sealed with a recyclable paper tape by Wendrich artHouse.     Please note: The smooth natural gloss is not the same as high-gloss of other print applications.  It ensures an easy shuffle with enhanced protection and durability.

Upon Purchasing

Please follow these instructions when opening your deck for the first time, as the box lid on The Star Cover version fits snugly to the base:

  1. To remove lid, gently grip the sides of the lid and pull slightly outwards and shake the lower half of the box free. Once the box becomes more frequently opened, the lid will slip off with ease.
  2. Remember to remove one of the Temperance Keys (No. 14) from the deck before use.

The book  A SEPHIROTHIC ODYSSEY: A Journey in Consciousness with the Golden Dawn Temple Tarot by Harry and Nicola Wendrich, is available from here.  Orders of multiple items to be shipped to the same address will be refunded a portion of the shipping cost, where applicable, depending on weight.

The book explores the Path of Return, examining each Path and Sephira, and investigating Ain Soph and the Court Cards, including an explanation of the Elemental Signatures used within the painting of the deck, the updated Colour Theory, and additional insights gleaned throughout an odyssey of painting, writing and meditating upon the archetypal forces of the Tarot.  The Vault of the Adepti is also considered in the light of this updated colour theory.

A companion to the Golden Dawn Temple Tarot deck, this study is relevant to all students of Tarot and Kabbalah.

From the back cover:

A Sephirothic Odyssey takes us on a journey upon the Tree of Life with the Tarot Cards.  As we climb the Tree on the Path of Return, we meet the archetypal forces which shape our life experiences, and learn how their balance enables the kundalini serpent fire to rise within us in preparation for entry into deeper levels of consciousness.

The Golden Dawn Temple Tarot is examined in terms of its archetypal and astrological symbolisms. Harry and Nicola also share the updated colour theory developed within their painting of the deck and insights gleaned through meditations, including teachings from the devic realm regarding the creation process from within Ain Soph.

Through completing the journey, we perceive the link between love, light, and consciousness which enables humanity to partake in Universal Consciousness and explore extra-dimensional awareness.
